Two charged after attempted drug arrest leads to confrontation on Victoria Avenue | News, Sports, Jobs

An investigation into a burglary at the scene of an August shooting led to a standoff at 84 Victoria Ave. in Jamestown Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday at 12:42 p.m., Jamestown police officers were dispatched to 84 Victoria Avenue for a burglary in progress. Officers were advised that unknown persons were inside one of the apartments.

The home is the same location where a shooting occurred on Aug. 17, in which a man was shot and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police gave an update on the man's condition Wednesday, saying he is expected to survive.

As part of this investigation, officers executed a search warrant at the apartment at 84 Victoria Avenue and a vehicle associated with one of the occupants of the apartment. During the search, detectives said they located 111.9 grams of methamphetamine, 23.3 grams of powder cocaine, 9.4 grams of crack cocaine, 66.5 grams of fentanyl and a 9mm handgun. No charges were laid at the time of the search warrant execution as the occupants of the apartment, identified by police as Kylah Seiberg and Jensen Vazquez, fled the scene.

As the investigation into the burglary continued, it was determined that Seiberg and Vazquez returned to the residence, nearly two weeks later. Seiberg was arrested fairly quickly by patrol, but Vazquez refused to exit the residence. It was reported that Vazquez had armed himself with a firearm and that part of the residence was barricaded, making it difficult to gain entry into the home. The Jamestown Police Department SWAT team was called to the scene to assist in the arrest of Vazquez due to the fact that he currently has a warrant out for his arrest from the United States District Court of Western New York for violating his federal probation. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office also responded with their SWAT team to assist. After several hours and the deployment of chemical munitions in an attempt to get Vazquez to peacefully surrender, he continued to refuse to exit the residence. The Jamestown SWAT team was eventually able to gain entry to the residence after a search warrant was issued by Jamestown City Judge John LaMancuso. According to the police report, Vazquez was found hiding under insulation and the attic floor by SWAT personnel and taken into custody without further incident. Another search of the residence was conducted, which revealed 65.3 grams of fentanyl in the same area where Vazquez was apprehended.

Vazquez was taken to the city jail and held until he can be charged with five counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Seiberg was also taken into custody, but was only charged with what was found in the Aug. 17, 2024, search warrant. She is being held in the Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment on charges of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
