Draper woman expected to die after being stabbed 'at least 8 times'

A woman was not expected to survive Monday night after being stabbed at least eight times during an altercation in Draper.

Police reported that a woman was found covered in blood in the same apartment where the stabbing victim was in mid-September.

The blood-covered woman, identified as Raykietta Singer, 23, admitted to police that she stabbed the victim and described the knife she used, which police said was found at the scene.

According to the information gathered, the police discovered that a man who was at the scene had left the scene. They were able to locate and question him. He was identified as the victim's boyfriend.

The singer and the victim's boyfriend were questioned by police.

According to court documents, the man told police he had been to a concert with the victim and Singer when he became separated from the two women.

The singer told police that the victim and her boyfriend began arguing at the concert, accusing each other of “trying to cheat,” the documents said.

Police say Singer offered to let the victim and her boyfriend stay at her apartment in Draper on the condition that they not argue. Singer said she began talking about various things with her boyfriend, which made the victim angry because she “thought (Singer) thought she was trying to get with (her boyfriend),” according to the documents.

The two women began arguing and the fight became physical, Singer told police. She reportedly told police the victim began to choke her and her boyfriend watched without intervening.

Singer said she remembered the knife she had in her possession, which was on the ground where the two women were fighting. She managed to grab it and allegedly used it to stab the victim.

“Raykietta stated that she was seventy to eighty percent certain that she stabbed (the victim) only once and that she believed the fight lasted less than five minutes,” according to court documents.

Police reported that the victim's boyfriend had blood on his pants, which he said came from the women beating each other. According to the documents, Singer “did not appear to know where the knife and (her boyfriend) went after that.”

The documents state that Singer “did not respond when told she had stabbed (the victim) at least eight times and that (the victim) was in danger of not surviving the incident.”

The singer is charged with one count of attempted murder.

Based on the most recent report of the victim's condition as of Saturday, it is unlikely that he will survive.
