Student charged with making threats of mass violence at Red Bank High School

A Hamilton County student is facing charges following an investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO).

According to HCSO, deputies were notified of the alleged threat of mass violence against Red Bank High School via an anonymous tip Sunday.

They say the information came from the Hamilton County Department of Education.

At that time, the school resource officer assigned to the school and other officers found an address for the student in question.

The student was later located, arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with threatening mass violence at a school.

The HCSO characterized the arrest as follows:

By responding quickly to the anonymous tip, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was able to quickly identify and arrest the student, preventing any potential harm. The prompt investigation and involvement of the School Resource Deputy, along with our partnership with HCDE and its SSO program, underscores the importance of vigilance and established protocols for addressing threats within the school system. The charge of threatening mass violence in a school is serious, reflecting the severity with which such threats are treated.

As this incident involves minors, no further details are available.
