Security guard knocked down by truck in Medchal

Hyderabad:A 32-year-old security guard, Raga Jyothi, was allegedly knocked down by a truck on Saturday morning, Medchal police said. Police said Jyothi, who hails from Manthani, was crossing the road when the truck hit her. A complaint has been lodged against the driver and further investigation is underway.

Excise Task Force Arrests IIT Student, Tech Worker For Selling Marijuana In Hostels

Hyderabad:An IIT student and a tech employee have reportedly been arrested by the Special Excise Task Force for selling marijuana in hostels in SR Nagar. The task force has reportedly identified 22 sellers, suppliers and consumers.

The accused have been identified as K. Pavan and K. Lokesh. A user was also arrested during a raid at a hostel on Friday night. Based on the confession of the accused, the STF raided Lokesh's house in Manikonda and seized 1.75 kilograms of ganja.

Injured body found at train station

Hyderabad:The body of an unidentified man was found injured near the VIP gate of platform 10 of Secunderabad railway station. Government Railway Police (GRP) Inspector B. Saieashwar Goud received information about the body. “We suspect that the victim was a passenger of the train who was murdered by unidentified assailants in the early hours,” Goud said. The Clues team and the dog squad have been called in to collect clues. The police have started examining the CCTV footage to identify the victim and the assailants.

Bouncer arrested in Secunderabad for involvement in ATM theft

Hyderabad:Secunderabad inspectors BS Saraswath (RPF) and Saieshwar Goud (GRP) have arrested a professional bouncer who was wanted in three cases of bank card theft. He was traced through CCTV footage, said Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, Divisional Commissioner of Security, Secunderabad. The bouncer's two accomplices are absconding, she said. The railway police have arrested 144 people for robbing passengers so far this year.

4 people detained for abusing RTC driver, hitting driver

Hyderabad: The OU police arrested four persons for abusing a woman RTC bus conductor and assaulting a bus driver on duty on Saturday. The arrests were made following a complaint filed by driver Thalla Jyothi of Kushaiguda depot.

She said that around 10.50 am, when the Metro Express service was proceeding from Afzalgunj towards Ghatkesar, the four accused, travelling on two two-wheelers, started honking and insulting the driver, Dheeravath Ganesh. When the bus slowed down at the Y-junction near OU police station, the accused entered the bus and assaulted Ganesh.

Ganesh suffered injuries that resulted in bleeding and fell unconscious. He was taken to a government hospital.

When Jyothi tried to stop them, they insulted her and tried to attack the passengers who tried to intervene. Before leaving, the accused threatened the driver of dire consequences if she complained to the police.

Following an investigation, Burani Laxman, Burani Harvinder Singh, Burani Kuljeeth Singh and Burani, manufacturing workers and residents of Khairatabad, were arrested, OU Inspector B. Naresh said.

Mentally ill son beats 65-year-old woman to death

Warangal:A 65-year-old woman was beaten to death by her son in Namiligonda of Station Ghanpur mandal in Jangaon district on Saturday. According to ACP R. Bhima Sharma, the woman has been identified as Samudrala Lachhamma and her son as Sathaiah.

Two years ago, Sathaiah met with an accident and sustained head injuries. Since then, he has been suffering from mental problems. He was admitted to Fathimanagar Hospital in Kazipet and underwent treatment.

On Saturday morning, he returned from the hospital. During the night, he argued with his mother and hit her, killing her instantly.

The neighbours called the police, arrested Sathaiah and moved the body for an autopsy.

Couple commits suicide

Kamareddy:A young couple, fearing rejection by their families, committed suicide within hours of each other on Friday. The incident came to light on Saturday.

Mogili Sai Kumar, 24, of Konapur in Bibipet mandal, and Rangu Veena, 23, of Ambaripet in Domakonda mandal, were school sweethearts, police said. Sai Kumar was employed as a physical education teacher in a private school at Toopran in Medak district.

While Sai Kumar's family had accepted the idea of ​​a love marriage, Veena's family had opposed it. According to reports, Veena's family had stopped her from pursuing her studies because of the relationship.

Distraught over the situation, Sai Kumar committed suicide in their fields on Friday afternoon. After hearing of his death, Veena committed suicide at her home in Ambaripet.

Local police, including constables Sampath Kumar and Anjaneyulu of Bhiknoor, rushed to the spot. The bodies were sent to the Kamareddy government hospital for postmortem.

Woman killed in car accident

Hyderabad: A woman died on Friday night when the car she was travelling in overturned on the ORR after the driver exceeded the speed limit. The driver and another occupant of the car were injured, Abdullapurmet police said.

Police identified the victim as Sowpati Srivalli, and the survivors as M. Shiva, who was driving, and S. Anil, 25. They were returning from Nalgonda to ECIL. Police said the driver lost control of the car which fell on the other side of the ORR and rolled five to six times.

The doors of the vehicle opened and all three were thrown out. Swapna sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot.

The traffic police team was the first to reach the scene and rushed the survivors to hospital. Swapna was a receptionist at a diagnostic centre in Neredmet. Hailing from Tenali, she had separated from her husband after three years of marriage and was living with her sister.

Man arrested for selling ganja chocolates

Hyderabad: Adibatla police have arrested a Bihar native who was selling chocolates laced with marijuana to his colleagues. The police seized 3.8 kg of chocolates laced with marijuana and the accused, Santosh Kumar, has been remanded in judicial custody.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said Kumar had noticed that his colleagues were addicted to marijuana and wanted to cash in on it. He had also noticed that small vendors were selling chocolates laced with marijuana at high prices. Kumar went to Bihar and returned with 19 packets of chocolates laced with marijuana, weighing 3.8 kg. He was selling them to his colleagues at Rs 30 per chocolate.

Five-year-old girl dies of snake bite

Nalgonda: A five-year-old girl died of a snake bite in the toilet of her house at Pogilla in Chandampet mandal of the district on Saturday. The victim, Karramkodu Pavithra, was the daughter of Kishan Naik and Ganga. The families shifted her to an area hospital in Devarakonda, where doctors declared her dead.
