Elko police arrest man in connection with stabbing

ELKO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Elko Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a stabbing they say was targeted.

Oscar Ruiz, 34, of Elko, was arrested Sunday in the Grant Avenue area on charges of attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon.

The previous Saturday, officers with the Elko Police Department were called to the 500 block of South 5th Street for a report of a person being stabbed multiple times. The victim was taken to the hospital and was able to provide a description of the person accused of the stabbing.

On Sunday, an Elko Police Department officer found the car Ruiz was seen in parked in front of a residence on Grant Avenue. Police were given permission to search the home by the homeowners.

He was found inside and was later arrested without incident and booked into the Elko County Jail.
