Alston appeared in court Thursday where he and his attorney again tried to get a judge to set bail for him. It was Alston's fourth bail hearing.

The defense argued that nearly two years have passed and Alston's trial has yet to take place. Prosecutors, meanwhile, said Alston is a violent criminal and should not be released on bail.

Alston has been in prison since January 2023 following a police-involved shooting a few weeks earlier.
