LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Platte County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing that occurred Saturday morning near Columbus that left a woman seriously injured.

Deputies were dispatched to a campsite northwest of the intersection of Highway 81 and Highway 30 shortly after 2 a.m. following reports of a person bleeding from a knife wound.

Jadyn Rother, 20, was bleeding from a cut on her arm, authorities said.

The first deputy to arrive used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding until an ambulance could arrive, authorities said.

The sheriff's office said Rother's injury was caused by a young woman.

Authorities said the girl fled the scene and was found by the Columbus police department a short time later.

The girl was evaluated for minor physical injuries and then arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

She was placed in the Madison Juvenile Detention Center.

Duncan Rescue transported Rother to Omaha with serious injuries.

Authorities said Monday that Rother remained in hospital in serious condition.
