Georgia Man Charged With Online Solicitation of Minor in Central Texas

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Robert Oscar Perry, 70, of Kingston, Georgia, is charged with online solicitation of a minor in McLennan County after offering to provide money for sex to an undercover sheriff's office detective posing as a 15-year-old girl, a criminal complaint affidavit states.

On May 7, 2022, the detective was acting as an undercover agent on a social media app “known for child sexual exploitation and human trafficking.”

According to the affidavit, the detective began chatting with a man using the online name Robert Perry, and the conversation then moved from the social media app to text messages using a short messaging service (SMS). The phone number the suspect used during the conversation was “determined by a law enforcement database to be registered to Robert Perry,” the affidavit states.

During the conversation, Perry was informed that he was communicating with a 15-year-old girl, and the undercover detective posing as the girl asked Perry if age would be an issue.

“Oh my God, my little girl, of course not. I haven't had a teenage girl since I was a year old,” Perry reportedly replied.

The man added: “I hope you don't mind that I'm 67, honey,” the statement read.

Perry, according to the affidavit, then allegedly asked who he thought the 15-year-old girl was: “Do you need a sugar daddy, honey?” and “Can daddy have some naked pictures of your little girl, please?”

Perry then specifically asked the girl if she could send him photos of her vagina, the affidavit states.

“Throughout the conversation with Perry, he stated that he would give money in exchange for sex with the child, and repeatedly discussed having sexual intercourse and vaginal intercourse with the child, in addition to her providing oral sex,” the detective wrote in the affidavit.

Perry was booked into the McLennan County Jail on September 20, 2024. He is being held on $5,000 bail.
