Woman collects donations for families displaced after apartment building fire in Loveland

LOVELAND, Ohio (WXIX) — A woman is collecting donations for families who lost everything after a condo building caught fire Wednesday, displacing 30 families.

Jaclyn Kolinas collects donations at her business, Fly Bungee Fitness, in Wards Corner for families affected by the Carrington Crossings fire.

The Loveland-Symmes Fire Department said a woman using a flaming tool started the fire. Firefighters said part of the second floor collapsed onto the first floor. No one was injured, but many residents lost all their belongings.

“Clothes for all seasons. They have no winter clothes left, nothing for all seasons, gently used shoes, unopened body care products. Anything that could help someone make a fresh start.”

Kolianos isn't sure about the size and specific needs of the displaced residents, as she doesn't know many of them personally. She says any items the families don't need will be donated to local charities in Cincinnati.

“From the beginning, as soon as I told everybody this was happening or this had happened, people wanted to give and donate, and that goes for Loveland and Cincinnati in general; everybody is willing to help out here,” Kolinas said.

Kolinas mentioned that there is a donation board behind the Fly Bungee Fitness building. It is available all day, so donations can be dropped off there even when she is not there.
