Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to observe 11 days of penance

Tirupati Laddu controversy: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Saturday announced that he would perform an 11-day penance to appease Lord Venkateswara over the alleged adulteration of animal fat in laddus in Tirupati.

The actor-politician said he would begin penance on Sunday at the Sri Dasavatara Venkateswara Swamy temple in Namburu in Guntur district.

He posted on 'X' that after the 11 days of penance, he would visit Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy. He requested the deity to give him the strength to perform the purification ritual to redress the alleged wrongs committed by the previous YSRCP government.

Janasena's founder wondered how the employees and board members of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) could be unaware of these alleged irregularities. TTD is the official custodian of the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati.

It was at a recent meeting of the NDA legislature party that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the erstwhile YSRCP government of using substandard ingredients and animal fats in making Tirupati laddu, the famous temple prasad known for its distinctive flavour. Naidu's accusations triggered massive public outbursts across the country.
